$25,000-60,000 Truck Chevrolet Muscle Era

1967-1972 Chevrolet C10

1967-1972

Why this vehicle matters

The '67-72 C10 is the canonical classic truck. The Action Line redesign cleaned up the bulbous '60-66 look into something timeless. It's the truck in every truck commercial when they want to evoke authenticity. The square body that followed ('73-87) is also cool, but these are the ones that launched the restomod movement. LS swaps, air ride, patina paint — the C10 is to trucks what the '32 Ford is to hot rods: the canvas everyone starts with.

Patina notes

Trucks lived hard lives, so genuine survivors with original paint are rare and valuable. Patina works exceptionally well on C10s — the flat panels and simple lines wear honestly. Rust focuses on cab corners, rocker panels, and the area under the bed. A truck with a rusty bed floor but solid cab is common and acceptable; a truck with rusty cab corners is a project. Factory Big Block trucks are rare; most V8 trucks left the factory with 307s or 350s. Don't pay big block premium unless you can verify it.

Ownership reality

Parts availability rivals the Mustang. LMC Truck and Classic Industries have everything. The small block Chevy is the most common engine in hot rodding, so any speed shop can work on it. The community is massive — C10 Club, 67-72 Chevy Trucks forum. Easy to daily drive with modern upgrades. Stock, they drive like trucks from 1970: vague steering, minimal brakes, bouncy ride. Budget for a disc brake conversion and better shocks at minimum.

The verdict

Buy if

You want a classic truck that can actually haul stuff. You appreciate the restomod scene and want a platform with infinite build potential. You value community support and parts availability over rarity.

Skip if

You want something that stands out at shows — everyone has a C10. You're looking for investment-grade appreciation (the market is mature). You need 4WD for actual off-road use (get a K10 instead, but they rust worse).
