Widowmakers
Some vehicles are designed to be ridden. These were designed to be survived. The Kawasaki H1 Mach III earned its "Widowmaker" nickname by putting 60 horsepower through a chassis that couldn't handle it, with brakes that couldn't stop it. The front wheel came up in every gear. People bought them anyway.
Every generation has its widowmakers — the machines where engineering ambition outran engineering prudence. The Z1's speed overwhelmed its frame. The Ducati 900SS rewarded perfection and punished everything else. The Viper gave you 400 horsepower and no traction control. These aren't beginner vehicles. They're not really intermediate vehicles either.
The widowmaker ethos predates safety culture. No ABS, no stability control, no electronic nannies. Just you, your reflexes, and the consequences of your decisions. Respect them, and they'll show you something transcendent. Disrespect them, and they'll show you a ditch.
