Moto Guzzi
Italy · Founded 1921
The other Italian motorcycle company. Transverse V-twins, shaft drive, and a cult following that rivals any religion.
Heritage
Carlo Guzzi started building motorcycles on the shores of Lake Como in 1921. The company's signature — a transverse-mounted V-twin with shaft drive — emerged in the late 1960s and became one of the most recognizable engine layouts in motorcycling. The V7 Sport was Italy's answer to the British twins, and the 850 Le Mans became a cult object that still commands irrational prices. Guzzi has always been the thinking person's Italian motorcycle: less dramatic than Ducati, more characterful than anything Japanese, and built with an obstinate commitment to doing things their own way.
